I bet there is some very serious, historical and lofty explanation for the name of this street in Sayville, New York. It's probably best that I don't look up the origin so I don't ruin my own fun.
Would you like to touch my beef bishop?

I feel like I haven't been home in ages. As we arrived home from being away again, it really felt great to know that I don't have to be anywhere for the forseeable future. Now, don't get me wrong. I love to go places and see new things but every once in a while you just need to be home to recharge your batteries. And trim the hedges. Part of me felt a major wave of guilt for neglecting the house for so many weeks now. I'm fairly certain that we've got more weeds than flowers at this point.
Saturday we spent part of the day in Stony Creek, Connecticut. We took a nice hour long boat tour of the Thimble Islands.
I so wish I had the balls to move away from here. To move to a place where people say "Hello, how are you?" and actually give a crap what you answer in response. To a place that is small and neighborly, to a place that has Barn Dances... Someday.
As we were leaving lovely, little Stony Creek, I saw something out of the corner of my eye that made me double back for a closer look. As I pulled into the lot and feasted my eyes upon this curious beast, I hear off to my right the sound of Kenny's voice, calm but firm...
"No. No, no, no. We do not need a boatmobile. No."
You know something, dear boy? We just might need a boatmobile. We do live on an island after all. Global warming, world gone asunder, terrorism and all that. We very well could need a boatmobile and you know what? We'll have you to thank when we're stuck in 78 bajillion hours of traffic trying to get off of this island in our dumb car. Won't you be sorry then?

When I'm out and about I seem to always see heart-shaped things on the ground while I'm walking... like rocks, holes, ice cream splatters. It started happening often enough that I started taking pictures of them as I go along. This collection of photos document this. View Heart & Sole.

Life is funny. You never know when you will turn the corner and have the imprint of a dream that will steer the events of your life. You can just be moseying along and something will sneak up on you and crawl into your psyche and just wait patiently, quietly moving you through your life, making things happen without you even realizing that you are working towards the achievement of a goal. Sometimes I wonder if it really is the act of achieving this thing whatever it may be, or if it is just the delicious act of dreaming itself that keeps you going?
I find it kind of funny too that your own dreams, these things that can passionately drive you, can hold absolutely no value whatsoever to someone looking in from the outside. They can simply listen to the talk about something that sets your heart alight and go... "That’s it, huh?"
I recently saw a dream come to fruition. That feeling of being happy that someone else is happy can really be just like you're experiencing the joy yourself. Is this something that we only learn to do in adulthood or when you make the leap in to parenthood maybe? I don't remember ever feeling that way as a young person.
Who doesn't have a list of somedays? Can you be that person that makes someday happen tomorrow? I guess maybe the answer more often than not is really sometimes. Maybe my someday is tomorrow. I think I’ll keep working on that.
